I hope you will pass word along to any and all  interested students to include Indiana University  on the list of schools where they audition. We will be admitting very few jazz vocal majors each year, but all jazz voice majors study private jazz voice IMMEDIATELY upon entering our program, with no classical studies required.  Prescreening applications begin December 1 and more  audition information can be found at:

Darmon Meader appointed to IU Jacobs School of Music vocal jazz faculty

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music is pleased to announce that Darmon Meader will join its faculty as adjunct lecturer in jazz studies and choral conducting this fall.

Meader -- recognized in both the vocal and instrumental jazz worlds -- has achieved global recognition as founder, musical director, chief arranger, composer, producer, saxophonist and vocalist with New York Voices.
He joins Steve Zegree, Pam and Jack Burks Professor of Music and director of the school's vocal jazz program, and Ly Wilder, visiting lecturer, on the vocal jazz faculty.
"I am thrilled that Darmon Meader is joining the Jacobs faculty," said Zegree. "Darmon is internationally recognized as a founding member of New York Voices and also as an accomplished composer, arranger, jazz saxophonist and virtuoso scat singer. The new vocal jazz major at Indiana University -- combined with the already storied instrumental jazz program -- offers our students extraordinary educational experiences and performance opportunities."
With New York Voices, Meader has collaborated with a variety of artists, including Ray Brown, Bernadette Peters, George Benson, Maureen McGovern, Don Sebesky, Nancy Wilson, Ann Hampton Callaway, Jim Hall, Paquito D'Rivera and the Count Basie Orchestra.
He has worked as a clinician and guest artist at both the high school and university levels and has taught at numerous domestic and international music workshops, including the Inzigkoven Vocal Jazz Workshop in Germany, various International Association for Jazz Education Teacher Training Institutes, Steve Zegree Vocal Jazz Camp and the Vocal Pop and Jazz Days workshop in the Netherlands.

P.S.  My apologies if you received more than one of this email. If so, or if you'd like to be removed from my list, please let me know.
